Children & Young People's Covid-19 Vaccination

All young people aged 5 and up are now eligible for the Covid-19 vaccination. Getting the vaccine is quick and easy. You can drop in to one of many walk-in sessions which are taking place across Norfolk and Waveney, or can wait to be contacted by the NHS to book an appointment.

Vaccinating children and young people is really important as it will help stop the spread of Covid-19. Getting the vaccine is the single most important step that everyone can take to protect themselves, their families and their friends against Covid-19.

Anyone who has any questions or is worried about the jab can talk to the friendly staff at our vaccination centres, who will be happy to answer any queries or offer assurance to people who are nervous.

Dive Deeper

Vaccinations For 5-11 Year Olds

The NHS is offering covid-19 vaccines to children aged 5 to 11 years. Vaccination is particularly important for children who have health conditions that put them at high risk from Covid-19, as the benefits are greater.

You’ll be able to get your child vaccinated at a site and time convenient for you – at vaccination centres, pharmacies and GPs offering jabs for this age group.

You can view the available sites and make an appointment through the National Booking Service or by calling 119.

Vaccinations For 12-15 Year Olds

For children aged 12-15,2 doses are being offered to give them the best protection against Covid-19. This includes children who turn 12 on the date of vaccination.

The waiting time between vaccinations is 12 weeks.

Most children will be given their vaccine at school during school hours. They will be given the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine for both doses.

If your child misses their vaccination, for any reason, they will be offered it again at a later date, or you can attend a local vaccination centre. Children who do not go to school, for example if they are home-schooled, will also be offered a vaccine. You will be contacted about when and where your child can get one.

If your child has tested positive for Covid-19, they need to wait 12 weeks before they can have a vaccine.

Vaccinations For 16-17 Year Olds

All young people aged 16 and 17 can get a first and second does of the vaccine. They will not need parental consent to access a vaccination.

They can book appointments at a larger vaccination centre or pharmacy now, or wait to be invited to go to a local NHS service.

Boosters

People aged 16 and over with a health condition that puts them at high risk of getting seriously ill from Covid-19 are eligible for a booster dose of the vaccine.
