Ormiston Families’ Mpower service is designed to support parents whose children have been removed from their care and prevent future removals. It uses goals to support parents to make the changes they want to. Support is available through intensive one-to-one support, group work, and remote or virtual support.
Practitioners tailor their support to meet the needs of each parent. Parents are supported to set goals and address the issues that led to removals, improve their sexual and reproductive health, and access support from appropriate agencies. Mpower aims to increase parents’ self-esteem and wellbeing, their network of support, and empowers them to rebuild their lives.
